Red Rooster – Overtown

Photography for Red Rooster Overtown , Marcus Samuelsson's Miami restaurant rooted in the historic Overtown neighborhood, celebrating the community's deep musical and cultural heritage through food, hospitality, and space.

The project required photography that communicates more than the food. It needed to capture the spirit of the place, the energy of the community, and the intention behind every creative decision that defines Red Rooster's identity in Overtown.

About the Project

Community and culture in restaurant photography

Red Rooster Overtown is one of those rare restaurants where the food and the place are inseparable. Tom's approach prioritized capturing the intersection of hospitality, heritage, and craft that makes this restaurant more than a dining destination, making it a genuine expression of the Overtown community.

The photography serves multiple purposes: press and editorial coverage, the restaurant's social media presence, marketing materials, and the ongoing documentation of a landmark Miami dining institution.

This work was later featured in Resident Magazine and in a Resy feature on how the restaurant honors the historic Clyde Killens Pool Hall. See the full list of press features.

Approach & Craft

Miami food and restaurant photography

Miami's restaurant scene is among the most closely watched in the country, and Red Rooster Overtown is one of its most culturally significant destinations. Tom's experience photographing community-driven restaurants across multiple cities means he brings both technical excellence and genuine engagement to spaces where the story matters as much as the food.

Available for Miami-area restaurant photography, multi-city restaurant group partnerships, and restaurant projects with strong community or cultural narratives. Based in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, available nationwide.
